  • Broadleaf evergreen shrub, dwarf, 2 ft (0.6 m), taller in the shade.  Leaves alternate, simple, small, they change color during the year, new growth is a dusty gray blue, in winter a deep metalic color; give off a "pine" odor when crushed.  Flowers small (2.5 cm) pinkish-violet.
  • - 20°F, early-mid, quality rating 3/4/4 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)].  Grows well in the sun.  Introduced about 1940.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: garden between CH2M-Hill Alumni Center and LaSells Stewart Center.
