  • Deciduous stoleniferous shrub, to about 6(8)ft [1.8(2.4) m] high.  Flowers appear with leaves in late spring, they are white, tubular funnel-shaped, about 2.5 cm across, often with a prominent yellow blotch, very long stamens (5) and pistil, 6-8 flowers per terminal clusters, fragrant, a lemony-spice.  Leaves alternate, simple obovate or oblong, elliptic, upper surface hairy, often waxy, dark green.
