  • Broadleaf evergreen, mound-shaped, 3 ft (0.9 m) tall in 10 years, dense compact habit, but may become leggy with age.   Leaves 6-8 cm long, rounded tip, dull, dark green.  Flowers funnel-shaped, slightly wavy edges, 5 cm across, vivid red, edged scarlet red with faint dark red spotting, 5-9 in lax clusters.
  • -5° F, early-mid, 4/4-5/3 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)].   Sun to part shade.
  • From a cross of Essex Scarlet x R. forrestii ssp forrestii 'Repens', by Dietrich Hobbie, Germany.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: south side of the Memorial Union Quad.
