- Deciduous tree, 20 ft [6 m] tall with a 15 ft (4.5 m) spread, slightly slower growing than 'Kanzan' of which it is a sport (mutation). Leaves are purplish. Flowers similar to 'Kanzan', but slightly darker pink (magenta).
- Hardy to USDA Zone 5
- PP06520, Jan. 10, 1989. A single branch sport with purplish red leaves was discovered on a seedling of 'Kanzan' by Frank Parks of Speer & Sons Nursery, Woodburn, Oregon. It was released to commerce in about 1990.
