  • Deciduous tree, upright, 30 ft (9 m) tall and 15 (4.5 m) ft wide, strong central leader.  Leaves dark green all summer.  Flowers tulip-shaped, bright purplish-pink, outer tepals (petals) tend to roll inward as do those of one of its parents, M. liliiflora.
  • Sun or part shade.  Best in rich, well-drained soil.  Protect from wind.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone (5?)6    From a cross of M. campbellii × M. liliiflora.  This hybrid was developed and named by Oswald Blumhardt of New Zealand in the 1970s.
