  • Broadleaf evergreen shrub, 5-6 ft (1.5-2 m), compact, dense, usually broader than tall.  Leaves alternate, simple, 13 mm long, roundish, convex above and concave below.  A female clone which often is heavily set with black fruit.
  • Sun.  Susceptible to iron and nitrogen deficiency and spider mites. Attractive pruned or left unpruned.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone (5) 6     Originated in Japan.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: south and east sides of Cordley.
