  • Broadleaf evergreen shrub, 3-4 ft high by 6-8 ft across (ca. 1 x 2.5 m), compact, dense, mounded.  Leaves short-stalked with 5, rarely 7, spines, 4-10 cm long, lustrous dark green.   A female clone, but usually does not set fruit.
  • Sun.  Very adaptable
  • Hardy to USDA Zone (6)7      Originated from seed in a nursery in Louisiana before 1930.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: west side of McAlexander Field House.
