  • Deciduous tree, columnar to narrowly pyramidal growth habit, may reach 35 to 40 ft (~ 10.5-12 m) in 25 to 30 years, bark is yellow-white, slightly exfoliating.  Leaves dark green, retained into late fall.
  • Sun or light shade.  Tolerates heat and drought.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 3    Developed and introduced by North Dakota State University.  It was selected from an open-pollinated population of Betula platyphylla sown in 1986 [HortScience32:1304-1305(1997)].  Plant Patent No. 10963 (June 22, 1999).  Dakota Pinnacle, registered Trademark name (Jan. 19, 1999).
