- Deciduous shrub, low mounding, reportedly more compact and smaller than ‘Crimson Pigmy’. Foliage is a rich burgundy, changing to dark red in the fall.
- Colors best in full sun or light shade.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 4 US Plant Patent 9,461(1996). This selection was discovered in 1989 growing in a bed of 15,000 containerized Berberis thungbergii 'Crimson Pygmy' at the Leo Gentry Wholesale Nursery in Gresham, Oregon.
