  • Broadleaf evergreen shrub, 4-6 ft (1.2-1.8 m) tall, equal width, dense, mounded.   Leaves simple, ovate to broad ovate (rounded), 2.5-5 cm long, serrated to varying degrees, very leathery, lustrous dark green above, dull beneath, purplish cast in winter.  Flowers perfect, white, 2 cm across, in dense, upright clusters.   Bluish-black fruit, about 2 cm diam.
  • Sun, prefers moist, well-drained soil, will tolerate drought.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone (7) 8      Native to Japan and Korea.
  • A dwarf form available is the cultivar  'Minor', Dwarf Yeddo Rhaphiolepis.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: near southwest door to Cordley Hall, left side; also west side of Cordley (south wing).
