- Evergreen shrub, compact, mounding, slow growing but in time may reach 10 ft (3 m) high and 8 ft (2.4 m) wide. New growth pinkish bronze, spiny mature leaves have a mixture of green, gold, and cream areas.
- Part shade, prefers fertile, moist, well drained, acid soil, but tolerates higher pH soils.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 6
