  • Broadleaf semi-evergreen shrub, grows rapidly to 15 ft (4.5 m), often sheared to a hedge.  Leaves simple, opposite, 2.5-6 cm long, elliptic-ovate to elliptic-oblong, entire, bordered with yellow-gold with a green center.  It often reverts to fully green shoots.
  • Sun.  Tough plant, tolerates heat.  Well watered and fed plants hold leaves longest.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 7      Native to Japan.
