  • Evergreen variegated shrub, compact, slow growing, rounded pyramidal habit, 8-12 ft (2.5-3.5 m) tall and 6-8 ft (1.8-2.5 m) wide, stems dark purple to black.  Leaves alternate, simple, oval, light green with rich cream colored margins.  Flowers bell-shaped, about 1 cm, black-red, honey-scented, appear in early summer.
  • Sun to light shade.  Medium water needs, but drought tolerant.  Tolerates maritime exposure.  Useful as an individual shrub (including a container plant) or hedge.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 8
