  • Conifer, evergreen shrub/tree, to 25 ft (8 m) tall, compact, dense, columnar habit.  Foliage blue-green in summer and plum-purple in winter.
  • Sun  best in moist, sandy soil
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 5     Several authorities note some plants sold as 'Red Star' are in fact the cultivar 'Ericoides'.
  • Oregon State Univ. campus: in planting near the SW corner of Campus Way and 15th St.
