  • Evergreen shrub, or small tree, vigorous, upright, can reach 20 ft x 15 ft.  Leaves simple, alternate, 10 cm long, ovate-oblong, sharply toothed (holly-like), tip pointed, glossy dark green above, silver-white pubescence below.  Flowers small, 1.5 cm across, white with reddish brown centers, in large clusters, to 15 cm across; fragrant.
  • Sun or shade, very shade-tolerant
