Two species of densely branched, deciduous shrubs or small trees.  Leaves opposite, clustered, and entire.  Flowers bisexual, 1-5 at shoot tips, calyx campanulate to tubular, sepals 5-8, petals 5-7, overlapping, stamens numerous.  Native from the eastern Mediterranean to Himalaya.
