Ten species of tall, upright, deciduous shrubs, without stolons. Leaves simple, opposite, serrate, lacking stipules. Flowers pink, red or yellowish, in axillary or terminal clusters (corymbs), calyx narrow, tube-like, 5 sepals, corolla campanulate-funnelform, 5 stamens, shorter than corolla, slender style. Fruit bivalved, woody, beaked capsule.
