About 250 species of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and trees, mostly in tropical and subtropical regions, only a few in temperate regions. Leaves opposite, often palmately compound and rather large, 3-7 narrow leaflets. Flowers in large clusters, white, yellow, red, blue or purple.
