  • Evergreen conifer, pyramidal shape, vigorous, to 30-45 ft (9-14 m) tall, typical species foliage, glossy dark green; somewhat less green in winter.  It can be pruned into a hedge.

  • 'Atrovirens': the cultivar name is from the Latin, atro, black, dark, and, virens, green, hence dark green, a reference to the foliage color
