  • Conifer, evergreen tree  This selection is similar in size [to 30-70 ft (10-20 m) tall] and the conical shape of the species but its foliage is dark, glossy green throughout the winter (does not "bronze").
  • Sun to partial shade
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 4   Dr. Sidney Waxman (1923 - 2005), of the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT is credited with the introduction of this cultivar in 1960 and its naming in 1985. It was a seedling that he selected at the college for superior winter hardiness (American Conifer Society).
