  • Broadleaf deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub, to 6 ft (1.8 m) tall, spreading to 8 ft (2.4 m) wide; without spines.  Leaves simple, alternate, to 5 cm long, 3-lobed, aromatic, margin toothed, dark green; fall color may be reddish brown.  Flowers small, 5-lobed, tubular, red with a yellow throat, in dense, pendant clusters to 8 cm long.  It does not produce fruit.
  • Sun to part shade.  Easy to grow.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone (5)6...also listed at Zone 4      Of garden origin in about 1837, a cross between R. odoratum and R. sanguineum.
