- Conifer, evergreen tree, to 65-130 ft (20-40 m) high, horizontal branches with nodding tips. Needles 4-sided, 8-15 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, straight or bowed, abruptly acuminate, prickly, with 4-6 stomatal lines. Cones cylindrical, 8-12 cm long, about 3.5 cm wide, smooth and glossy, scales leathery, wide, rounded.
