  • Conifer, evergreen, shrub/tree, 20-30 ft (6-9 m) high, female, branches slightly twisted, appear "as tufts of swirling foliage" (Jacobson, 1996).   Leaves scale-like, vivid green.
  • Sun. Excellent heat and salt tolerance, widely used in the California and the southwest.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 5      Exported from Japan to the U.S. about 1920.
