Conifer, evergreen tree, to 15-20 m tall, conical, crown densely branched, branches in whorls, horizontally arranged. Needles very densely arranged, pointing upward, brush-like, may also be in 2 rows, deep green, 15-20 mm long, thick, stiff, twisted at the base, furrowed above with a white stomatal band patach, lower surface with 2 white stomata bands. Cones erect cylindrical, 15-20 cm tall and 4-6 cm wide, brown.
