  • Broadleaf deciduous, somewhat compact, shrub to about 6 ft (1.5 m) in 10 years, narrower width.  Leaves simple, opposite, elliptical, olive to glossy green above and lighter below. Whitish, flat-topped clusters appear in mid-summer.  The small fruit is green/white at first, then pink or red and finally maturing to dark blue.  Fall foliage is dark red to reddish-purple.
  • Sun to part shade, tolerant of wet sites, avoid alkaline soils.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 5.   Selected by Winterthur Garden of Delaware.
