Hop Bush

Dodonaea is a genus in the Sapindaceae, the soapberry family.  It is made up of some 70 species, often known as hop bushes.  It has a wide distribution in tropical, subtropical and warm temperate regions of Africa, the Americas, southern Asia, and Australia.  By far the greatest species diversity is in Australia. 

The genus is name after Rembert Dodoens, (1517 –1585) a Flemish physician and botanist, also known under his Latinized name Rembertus Dodonaeus.
