  • Evergreen, creeping shrub (ground cover), dense, mound forming (70 cm high) or prostrate (15 cm).  Leaves small, 6-15mm long, obovate, dull green.  Flowers white, solitary, in summer.  Fruit red, 6-15 mm long; not heavily produced.
  •   Sun to part shade.  A good rock garden plant.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 6     Native to the Himalayas.  A highly variable species (Hillier, 1998).
  • congestus: arranged very closely together, presumably a reference to the leaves.
