  • Broadleaf deciduous tree.  Similar to the species but the leaves are variegated with a wide yellow edge, turning yellowish green in late summer, and a large central green blotch of various shapes.
  • Originated in Germany about 1865.  In the U.S. most specimens date from 1986 when it was offered by Monrovia Nursery as Majestic Beauty® (Jacobson, 1996) .   This selection was given Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) Award of Merit (1974) and in 1993 the Award of Garden Merit after trials at RHS Gardens, Wisley.
